Hindsight 2020: Year In Review
If there’s one thing everyone can agree on, it’s that this year hasn’t exactly gone as planned. What started off relatively normal quickly took a detour. As a company with an 86-year history, we’ve navigated other crises in the past, including the forming of our company during the height of the Great Depression and our support of the WWII effort. While this crisis has been unlike any other, fortunately we’re still here and very much focused on the future.
When the pandemic hit in the spring, our first question was, “how can we help?” That important question led us to put our 3D printer to use printing ear savers and to bend wire for masks needed by our local health care workers. Our team was proud to lend a small hand to support those on the front lines. We’ve continued to make this a priority, buying lunch for health care workers in lieu of our traditional company holiday party.
Operationally, when it became clear that our trade show calendar wasn’t going to materialize like we had hoped, we got creative to try to capture some of the show experience. We developed a virtual trade show booth with brief info and 15-second videos on each of our products. We added 3D models to our website so customers can better experience them online. For customers restricting visitors, we provided virtual demos and several parking lot demos of the battery-operated FlyMarker® dot peen marking unit.
We focused on the significant cost savings from using the Rocklinizer and the MoldMender that are essential in this challenging economic environment. And we highlighted the FlyMarker’s unique features that maximize productivity and flexibility when it’s needed most.
Finally, as we enter our 87th year in business, all of us at Rocklin Manufacturing are focused on advancing the legacy of our company’s founder and second generation owner to support each other, our customers, our partners, and our community as best we can. And we’re all looking forward to smoother sailing in 2021…
